Conversion Focused

The websites we build are focused on getting visitors to take a specific action. This action could be to give you a call, fill out a form or download an e-book to join your mailing list. These actions are called conversions and we make sure that everything on the site is leading towards a conversion.

Most other web designers are more focused on how a website looks. But our philosophy is that every aspect of the website include how it looks should lead to a next step along the path of getting a qualified lead.

Principles

There are several principles that we follow to create conversion focused websites.

Immediacy

Speed is very important in the online word.

On the Internet, there is a norm that you should get what you want fast. It is very easy to go to a competitor’s site with just a few clicks. So, you need to address visitor needs fast if you are to keep them on your site.

The contents of our sites are laid out in a manner to grab people’s attention and address their needs fast. Also, the structure of the site is optimized to load fast and provide quick response to user interactions.

Intentional

We believe that everything on the sites including the font, color, graphics, content and layout should have a purpose. In most cases this purpose is to answer the three fundamental questions that goes through the visitor’s mind:

  1. What do I get?

  2. Can I trust you?

  3. What should I do next?

Clarity

Confusion hampers the conversion process. Our sites are focused on clearly addressing visitors needs and getting them to take action.

We prioritize the content on the site. Sometimes there can be a lot of say on a site. But for clarity, it is important to introduce the visitor to the content in layers of increasing detail so that the most important content is introduced first.

We try to eliminate all moment of content on the site that is not directly controlled by the user. For example, we try not to have images or sliders that change automatically. These change in content that is not controlled by the visitor leads to lack of clarity, control and confusion. A big hindrance to conversion.

The Layout That Works

We use a specific layout to build conversion focused websites that follow the above principles.

This layout addresses the three fundamental questions of the visitor in layers that add more and more details:

  1. What do I get?

  2. Can I trust you?

  3. What should I do next?

As soon as the visitor comes to the site, we address these questions above the fold (before the visitor has to scroll down). Then for visitors that do not take action, we address these questions again in more detail as they scroll down the page. And we repeat this process.

All Details Considered

We look into all minute details of the site in order to optimize it for conversion.

For example, we consider what specific fonts to use based on what fonts most websites use and are already familiar to people. We consider what colors to use based on what emotional reactions the colors make on users.

Foundation to Get Traffic

Out sites are built with a framework to get more traffic. Most other web designers disregard the traffic aspect of a website.

Basic Keyword Research

We do basic keyword research to get a sense for the keywords that prospects will use on search engines to look for your product or service. We use these keywords when laying out the frame for you site.

Site Frame That Attracts Prospects

We use keywords from the keyword research in certain key parts of your site’s frame to indicate to search engines that your site is relevant when prospects are searching for your product or service.

For example, we use the keywords in the URLs, meta Titles, meta Descriptions and image alt text.

Yoast Plugin to Optimize Pages for Search Engines

The Yoast WordPress plugin is a popular WordPress plugin that is used for SEO. We install and optimize the setting of this plugin. Also, we use this plugin to set the meta data for each page to optimize that page for search engines.

Foundation to Measure Traffic

Our sites are built with a foundation to gather data about web traffic that is coming to the site. Laying this foundation early is important so that you have the data for analysis if you decide to work on getting more traffic to your site in the future.

We install and configure Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Search Console. These tools will run in the background and gather data on your site.

Truly Optimized for Mobile

When it comes to making our sites work well on mobile, we go beyond the standard mobile optimized ‘responsive’ websites. Since more traffic come to a website from mobile devices, we take mobile optimization very seriously.

For example, we make sure that our websites truly look good on screens of all sizes. The norm is to test the site on a set of fixed sizes for desktop, laptop and mobile. But what about the screen sizes in between these fixed sizes? We test our sites on a continuum of sizes so that the sites truly look good on all screen sizes.

The layout, especially on smart phones need special attention. For example, some of the layout elements that worked on larger screens might not be the best option for smartphone screen sizes. In such situations, we use separate layout components specially for smartphones. Most web designers do not go to this level of mobile optimization.

A site that loads fast is even more important on mobile devices because people often use these devices with slower internet connections. One of the main reasons for slower sites is large image sizes. We compress the images on all of our websites to help with fast load speeds.

Foundation to Make Changes in The Future

A website should reflect the latest state of a business. Most business change and the website should keep up with these changes.

Often websites are out of date because it is hard to make changes. Our websites are built using a framework that makes it easy to make changes. For example, most edits can be done visually where the changes can be seen in real-time.

Also, our websites are backed up every day and even hourly when changes are done so that it is easy to go back to a previous version if there are mistakes made while making changes.
