How To Find And Use All IT Support Keywords

Below is a transcript of this video.

So I’m going to talk about how you can find and use all of the IT support-related keywords when you’re setting up your managed service provider website. Now this is something that I find very often, and this is a issue that I find very often, which is that most of the websites really don’t have all of the keywords that you can really target. So most people do just a very brief search in terms of the potential keywords and then use them. But to really get lot of relevant traffic fast, and to get a larger volume of relevant traffic, you have to really dig deep and find all of the related managed IT services, IT support, IT consulting keywords.

Now this is one quick way to do this. So these are the steps. Now, I use this Chrome extension called Keywords Everywhere. So if we just Google Keywords Everywhere, you will able to get this Chrome extension. There is a very small fee to use it, just a few dollars, but it’s totally worth it. So once you install the Chrome extension, what’s going to happen is when you do a Google search, you will see couple of stats. For example, like the volume, now the CPC, cost per click, and competition. So what I’m seeing here is that for this IT support search, there’s a monthly volume of 9,900. Now also on this right side, you’ll see related keywords, and then also other keywords that people are looking for.

So what we need to do is, as a basis to start our search, we start with basic terms like IT support, managed IT services, IT consulting, and then so forth. So in this example, now we’re starting with IT support, and this has a large volume, 9,900 a month. So the next thing that we need to see is whether this is a local keyword. So if you are a local business, you want searchers that are local to your area.

Now in this keyword we are not mentioning the city, but if you will look at the results, you will see that you see quite a number of local results. So for example, this map, the fact that Google is showing a map, and then it’s showing results close to where I’m currently located in this map, is a definite indication that this is a local search, although you don’t have that local city in the keyword. And then also you will see that some of these top results are local companies. Now I’m in Columbia, Maryland, so you will see that this company is in Columbia. Again, this company also is in Columbia, Maryland, and so forth.

So this is a local search. So you keep track of this, and the way that you do that is by you click on the star to basically to put that into your keyword list. And then what you do is now you dig down for these IT support-related keywords by looking at any related keywords that you could find in this area. Now, I don’t actually see any direct keywords that would be relevant for someone looking for IT support. So this one looks good. Computer support services. It has a volume of 490. So let’s click on that. Again, I’m seeing the map. So I’m convinced, and I’m seeing the map right at the top.

So sometimes you might see this map towards the bottom. So that means it’s less of a local search. But in this search I see the map at the top. So this is also a local search. So I’m going to mark this keyword also as a keyword that I want to keep track of. So in that way, you continue to dig deeper and deeper, and then find all of the relevant keywords.

Now in addition, what you can do is you can directly force your search to be a local search, and then get those keywords also if there’s sufficient volume. So the way to do that is by adding your local city after the keyword. And sometimes it could be even before the keyword, but I try to start with adding it after the keyword and seeing if there’s a volume. So in this case, for example, I’m going to add Baltimore. And then let’s see if there’s a volume for IT support Baltimore. So there’s 880 searches a month.

So if I was a company in Baltimore, or somewhere close to Baltimore, I would definitely want to use this keyword also. And then I click on the star to keep track of it. So this is definitely a local search because it has the local city, so we don’t have to check any further. So in that way you just keep on digging deeper and deeper, and then finding all of the relevant keywords.

Now this is a list of keywords that I have found. Now I have literally thousands of keywords. So again, I have categorized these keywords under various higher level keywords. So for example, under IT support, I have related keywords like IT support services. So this is the volume. Then if I see a map, I have identified the fact that there’s a map, and then also I’m identifying how much local this keyword is.

So I have literally thousands of keywords that I have collected. The ones that are in red are the more dominant keywords that I want to go after, and then the ones that are in yellow are the less dominant keywords that I would target.

So that is the way that you really find all of the keywords. Now, if you need any help with this, or if you want access to my keyword list, let me know, and then I will be happy to share more information.
